The 14 Black Philadelphians listed here were exonerated since 2018—in all cases, they were wrongly convicted of murder and later cleared of all charges based on new evidence of innocence (including DNA), uncovering of serious prosecutorial or police misconduct, and other gross failings. By uncovering the ways our criminal justice system has failed in the past, we can cut out the rot and strengthen Philadephia institutions for the future.
