Monday, March 1, 2021, update. Mumia’s prison administered a “rapid test” that showed he was COVID negative. However, according to the Harvard Medical School, these cheap tests are often wrong; we don’t know if Mumia has had the more reliable PCR Covid Test (and he can’t wait 3 days for a result). Regardless, the point is Mumia has “labored breathing, chest pressure, and pain.”
Most importantly, even if Mumia doesn’t have COVID, he still requires the hospital. Persistent pain or pressure in the chest are always reasons to go to the emergency room ASAP. These symptoms could be an oncoming heart attack, stroke, pneumonia, and other potentially life-threatening conditions that a prison clinic is not equipped to diagnose.
